Organization: IEC
Publication Date: 1 January 1970
Status: inactive
Page Count: 14
scope:

This Recommendation gives the requirements for the flame-retardant characteristics of electric cables and describes the method for testing them.

Note. Since the use of a flame-retardant cable alone is not sufficient to prevent propagation of fire under any conditions of installation, it is recommended that, wherever the risk of fire propagation is high, for example in high vertical runs of bunches of cables, special installation precautions should also be taken. It cannot be assumed that, because the sample of a cable complies with the performance requirements of this recommendation, a burn of cables of the same type will be flame retardant.
